Guangdong-Hong Kong Cooperation Bears Fruit: Significant Drop in Air Pollutant Concentrations in Pearl River Delta Region

政府公布最新數據，珠江三角洲地區去年各項空氣污染物的年平均濃度，較前一年下降18%至86%不等。

Latest government data reveals that the annual average concentrations of various air pollutants in the Pearl River Delta region last year fell by between 18% and 86% compared to the previous year.

環境及生態局局長謝展寰近日與廣東省生態環境廳廳長徐曉霞舉行視像會議，雙方回顧了區域空氣質素的改善進程。會議中指出，各類主要空氣污染物的濃度已從過往的高峰期顯著回落。

Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Mr. Tse Chin-wan, recently held a video conference with Director of the Guangdong Provincial Department of Ecology and Environment, Ms. Xu Xiaoxia. Both parties reviewed the progress made in improving regional air quality. It was highlighted during the meeting that concentrations of key air pollutants have significantly decreased from their previous peak levels.

香港方面同時分享，本地電動車普及速度處於全球領先位置。目前，每十輛新登記的私家車中，超過七輛為電動車，此舉對改善城市空氣質素貢獻良多。

The Hong Kong side also shared that the local adoption rate of electric vehicles (EVs) is among the fastest in the world. Currently, over seven out of every ten newly registered private cars are electric vehicles, contributing substantially to the improvement of urban air quality.

展望未來，粵港雙方達成共識，將攜手合作，共同構建適用於整個粵港澳大灣區的「空氣質量健康指數」，以提供更全面、統一的空氣健康風險資訊，保障居民健康。

Looking ahead, both sides reached a consensus to collaborate on the development of a unified "Air Quality Health Index" for the entire Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. This initiative aims to provide more comprehensive and consistent air health risk information to protect public health.
