In October 2024, engineers from Dianjiang Technology conducted a two-week installation, commissioning, and training session for physiological ecology monitoring station equipment at the Wolong Dengsheng Protection Station in Sichuan Province. The process proceeded smoothly, and the monitoring results were well-received by the users.
The Wolong Dengsheng Gorge Protection Station is located in the high-altitude, deep-valley region where the Sichuan Basin transitions into the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Due to its high elevation, caravans on the ancient Tea-Horse Road found it difficult to cook food properly here, leading to the name ‘Dengsheng’ (literally ‘stewed raw’), which eventually evolved into the station's current name. As an important component of the Wolong Nature Reserve, a key habitat for giant pandas, it also serves as a human ecological experience demonstration base and is designated as a national-level nature reserve.
The monitoring system installed this time consists of a variety of devices that comprehensively and multilayeredly monitor the physiological and ecological indicators of the trees growing at the Dengsheng Gou Protection Station. All devices are powered by alternating current, which avoids the difficult problem of equipment power failure caused by insufficient sunlight in the primeval forest, thereby affecting measurements.
The main monitoring indices include plant sap flow, plant stem changes, plant water potential, soil temperature, soil moisture content, soil oxygen content, soil water potential, air temperature and humidity, etc. In the primary forest, primary tree species, and primary location, warming control experiments and watering control experiments were also conducted at the same time and in the same area. This provided scientific and reasonable effective data for the further protection of primary forests.
Although the installation process was fraught with difficulties and obstacles, the company team worked together and, with the fearless spirit of the Dianjiang engineers, successfully completed the installation and commissioning work in strict accordance with the teacher's design drawings. This fully demonstrates that Dianjiang engineers never shy away from difficulties, always rise to the challenge, and successfully complete their tasks.
